A handful of massive websites currently dominate the internet and control the vast majority of users, a trend that is antithetical to a free and open World Wide Web. In open rebellion to this centralization, many internet users have migrated some or all of their digital footprints onto individual sites or smaller group platforms.
This talk is an exploration of the “small web.” The speaker will discuss what the small web is, why it is currently blowing up, and how to participate in it as both a writer and a user. The session aims to show how moving away from corporate platforms can bring back the joy and fun of surfing the web.
