Description:
Most Linux distributions ship precompiled software or compile at install time, but ccix takes a different approach. This session explains the architecture:
ccix, an experimental distribution that utilizes deferred compilation—a technique where applications are compiled only when they are invoked. By using a custom deferred compiler based on libtcc and the Linux kernel's binfmt_misc feature, ccix creates a system with almost no binaries. This results in a distribution that is easier to port across architectures, highly hackable, avoids ABI mismatches, and eliminates the need for complex build systems like Autotools or CMake.
